Dear Parents and Carers of Good Samaritan,
We are holding a Working Bee this Saturday morning 16th March. Please check the notification on COMPASS and nominate if you are able to help in any way. Many hands make light work! The purpose of the Working Bee is for painting, planting and a general tidy up in readiness for our School Open Day on Friday 22nd March. Our School Open Day is a fabulous opportunity for families to see Good Samaritan school ‘in action’, meet the staff and see what our school has to offer those seeking a catholic education for their child.
As we strive to maintain open communication between the school and our parents, I want to address a topic that may have been a subject of concern for some of you – the use of casual teachers and their potential impact on your child's learning experience.
At Good Samaritan, we understand that consistency in teaching is essential for fostering a stable learning environment. However, there are instances when our regular teaching staff may be unavailable due to illness, professional development, or other unforeseen circumstances. In these cases, we rely on qualified casual teachers to ensure that your child's education remains uninterrupted.
I want to reassure you that the use of casual teachers does not compromise the quality of education your child receives. Our casual teachers undergo a rigorous selection process to ensure they possess the necessary qualifications, experience, and dedication to maintain our high standards of education. Additionally, they are provided with detailed lesson plans and resources to ensure continuity in the curriculum.
We encourage open communication and value your feedback. If you ever have concerns or questions about your child's learning experience, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. Our commitment to your child's education remains unwavering, and we appreciate your trust in us to provide a nurturing and enriching educational environment.
Thank you for your continued support of Good Samaritan. Together, we can ensure that every student at our school receives the best possible education.

Meet and Greet
Teachers have been meeting with parents during Meet and Greet Sessions and these will continue over the next few weeks.
1 Gold meet and greet sessions will be scheduled later in the term once Mrs Sutton returns.
These sessions are a 10 minute meeting for you to meet your child’s teacher, discuss how your child has settled into the classroom and share any strengths or concerns you may have. It is not an interview to discuss academic progress across all Key Learning Areas.
NAPLAN
Students in Year 3 and 5 started NAPLAN today. Assessments will continue over the coming week. The schedule is below:
Screens Aware Week
Each term during Week 7 we take time to focus on being screen aware across the school community. Time is dedicated to refocus and reteach classroom technology expectations and review the school guidelines for iPad/Computer use.
Parents may like to take an opportunity to rethink or reinforces expectations at home as well. The eSafety Commissioner has a wealth of resources for parents including how to establish good online habits from a young age - Good Habits Start Young.
REMINDER: Harmony Week
Our school will celebrate Harmony Day on Tuesday 19th March. Harmony Day is about promoting inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone.
Students are invited to wear a cultural outfit, or something orange to school on this day. Orange signifies social communication and meaningful conversations.
We will have an assembly in the school hall and parents are welcome to attend. The assembly will start promptly at 9:00am.
If you have any questions please email;

Thank you for your support with this important event,
Jane Stackhouse (EAL/D Teacher)
4th week of Lent
As we journey through the 4th Week of Lent, please be mindful of the three things that are asked of us during Lent:
- prayer
- fasting
- almsgiving
Project Compassion numbers are rising and we thank you for your kind and generous donations.

Should you wish to contribute to Project Compassion this Lent Season, here is the QR code for our school. Donations above $2 will generate receipts and all donations will count in our school's fundraising tally.

At Good Samaritan, we explicitly teach behaviour expectations to discourage behaviours such as disrespect, physical contact, aggression, property misuse and the use of inappropriate language amongst our students. These behaviors are not aligned with our school rules of respect, responsibility, and safety.
As a school community, we are committed to addressing these issues promptly and effectively. We are working diligently to ensure that all our students understand the importance of respectful, responsible, and safe behaviour. We believe that by reinforcing these values both at home and at school, we can foster a positive learning environment where every child can thrive.
We appreciate your support and cooperation in reinforcing these expectations with your child. Together, we can help our students develop the necessary skills to navigate social interactions and contribute positively to our school community.

Year Six- Leadership Program
Being able to learn about leadership with Cameron has really inspired me to be active in my
roles as a leader. Cameron uses games to give us a thorough explanation about leadership,
and the games are really intriguing and exciting. Cameron also gives us the opportunity to
express ourselves by what leadership means to us. He is a great guy and I am extremely
grateful to be learning more about leadership with him throughout the year.
