Thank You:
To all parents and carers who were able to give feedback regarding last week’s Parent Information sessions. The positive feedback is very much appreciated and will work towards planning for 2020.
The evaluation survey had 16 people respondwith 14 of these liking the format of the evening. The greatest change would be to have the sessions as 30minute sessions enabling teachers not to be rushed and the possibility of some questions being asked at the end of the session. Some comments included:
“Excellent format. Keeping to time appreciated. Ability to do two classes side by side was great.”
“I think considering the time restraints it was done well . It would be difficult to answer all questions on the night. I liked that the teachers were very approachable and welcomed questions - much better than last year. great start to the term so far.”
“Sessions need to be longer to allow teachers the ability to discuss all the information and to engage parents with questions or comments. Perhaps better to discuss key aspects of the year rather than reading through the handout as we can do that at home. Or send the handout home firstly so questions could then be raised at the session.”
Keeping all children safe is everyone’s business!
As a school our priority is to keep the children safe whilst they are coming into and exiting the school. It has been observed that some parents/carers are not using the correct modes of entering and exiting the school through the pedestrian gates. The pedestrian gates are a much safer way in and out of the school grounds away from the traffic of morning drop off or afternoon pick up lines. Please don’t be offended if a staff member reminds you of the safer way to pick up and drop off your child.
This week we pray for the soul of Renee Bortolazzo whose anniversary occurs at this time. Renee was a colleague and friend to the staff of Good Samaritan and a committed teacher to the students of Amaroo.
This week the staff will join in a time of prayer and reflection to remember Renee.
Lord, those who die still live in Your presence,
their lives change but do not end.
We pray in hope for the family,
colleagues, relatives and friends of Renee,
and for all the dead known to You alone.
In company with Christ,
Who died and now lives,
may Renee rejoice in Your kingdom,
where all our tears are wiped away.
We sing Your praise forever and ever.
Amen

Our Children – Engaging and Growing in God’s Love
Our children are precious to us and to God – made in his image. As parents, grandparents, catechists and sacramental program leaders, how do we encourage and nurture our children as they grow in this awareness? The Office of the Bishop has organised some parent sessions on this topic by visiting theologian, Fr James McEvoy.
These sessions will reflect on the process of growth in faith, how children are actively involved in their own social and spiritual development – sometimes for the good and sometimes through suffering and hardship.
