Good Samaritan Catholic Primary School Fairy Meadow acknowledges and pays respect to the Dharawal and Gweagal people past and present, the traditional custodians of the lands on which our school is built.
Dear Parents and Carers,
It is with mixed emotions that I write the last newsletter as Acting Principal of Good Samaritan, Fairy Meadow. I have thoroughly enjoyed my role over the course of 2024.
I wish to thank the community for their support of my leadership during this time. I have enjoyed working with staff, the students and the parent community and have been proud to witness our school thrive as an authentic and welcoming Catholic school.
I would like to particularly acknowledge:
Our P&F executive and those who voluntarily support the P&F. Their continued support and encouragement for all that is done at Good Samaritan is very much appreciated.
- The parents who help in the classrooms, Library, on the sporting fields. Without their continued commitment we wouldn’t be able to offer the children what we do each day at the school.
- Our 2024 School Captains and Vice Captains. Their commitment to their roles, their willingness to support us at assembly, and their attendance and contribution to events throughout the year has shown that they certainly have the qualities that our leaders of tomorrow will need.
- Thank you to our Year 6 students who are now ready to continue their educational journey into High School. I believe that each one of these students is leaving as a testament to Good Samaritan. They have been outstanding as our Year 6 leaders throughout 2024.
- Our school support staff, both in the office and the classrooms - their commitment to their work and their diligence in ensuring that the school runs smoothly is quite extraordinary.
- Bishop Brian and Fr Bernard - we are indeed blessed to have these men as the clergy of Good Samaritan
- Kevin Galea from the Lumen Christi Parish, and the volunteers of the Parish - our work with them to ensure that the children are offered regular and well planned opportunities to assist their spiritual development has been crucial throughout the year.
- Our Good Samaritan teaching staff. These men and women come to work every day to offer every child in every lesson the opportunity to grow and succeed. They are a passionate group of individuals who have, throughout the year, strived towards the aim of assisting our Good Samaritan boys and girls to be the best that they can be.
- And lastly, but certainly not least, to you - the person reading this newsletter. Your interest in, and support of, the school and the Good Samaritan community is very much appreciated. We cannot effectively operate without strong community support.
May Christmas be filled with many blessings and may you find peace and renewed energy for the New Year during the holiday break.
Mrs Pauline Chrostowski is looking forward to commencing her role as Principal in 2025.
FROM THE ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL'S DESK:
Classroom Location Changes 2025:
The 2025 school year will see a change to the location of some of the grades across the school.
- Kindergarten will occupy the buildings closest to the highway and church.
- Year 1 and 2 will occupy the buildings opposite the synthetic grassed area.
- Years 3 and 4 will occupy the demountable classrooms
- Year 5 and Year 6 will occupy the two story building with Year 5 upstairs and Year 6 downstairs.
What a fantastic year it’s been! A huge thank you to our students, staff, and families for your hard work and support throughout 2024. From big achievements to the little moments, we’ve shared so much together.
This week, students met their new teachers and classmates for 2025, and it’s been great seeing their excitement for the year ahead. I know they’ll come back ready to learn, grow, and have fun.
As we head into the holiday season, I wish each of you a safe, joyful, and relaxing break. May it be filled with time to rest, connect with loved ones, and recharge for the new year ahead.
We look forward to welcoming everyone back in 2025 for another exciting year of learning. Until then, stay safe and enjoy every moment of this well-deserved break.
Rejoice! The Third Sunday of Advent – Gaudete Sunday
This weekend, we light the pink candle on our Advent wreath, symbolizing joy. The word Gaudete means "rejoice," and it reminds us of the hope and happiness that the coming of Christ brings to our lives.
In the Sunday readings, we heard the words of St. Paul: "Rejoice always. Pray without ceasing. Give thanks in all circumstances." (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18). Amid the busy preparation for Christmas, this is a moment to pause and reflect on the joy we find in our faith, our families, and our community.
As we continue through Advent, let us remember to be messengers of joy in the world. Whether through a kind word, a thoughtful gesture, or simply being present to those in need, we can bring Christ's light into the lives of others.

We are delighted to congratulate Amali Greenfield on receiving her First Holy Communion this week. This is a very special milestone in her faith journey, as she welcomes Jesus into her heart in a new and profound way.
May this sacred moment deepen her love for God and inspire her to live a life filled with faith, hope, and love. As a school community, we pray that she continues to grow in her relationship with Christ and find strength and joy in the Eucharist throughout her life.
Congratulations, Amali! May God's blessings be with you always.

THANK YOU TO OUR PARISH SCHOOLS
As we approach the conclusion of this academic year of
2024 on behalf of our parish I thank the Principals,
teachers and administrative staff of Good Samaritan and
St Brigid parish schools.
A special note of congratulations and best wishes to all
the Year 6 students who will go into the exciting new
world of High School in 2025! I pray that you will
continue to grow in knowledge about yourselves, life,
and other people, and gain confidence to place your
talents in the service of helping others to grow. May God
bless you, your parents and caregivers, and all your
families with joy and peace.
For all the students of our Parish schools, their parents,
families and friends, and to all our teachers and their
families and friends, I pray you will have a restful holiday
and joyful Christmastide!
Fr Bernard
