Good Samaritan Catholic Primary School Fairy Meadow acknowledges and pays respect to the Dharawal and Gweagal people past and present, the traditional custodians of the lands on which our school is built.

Dear Parents and Carers of Good Samaritan,
Thank you for the kind messages that I have received following the announcement of my Principalship at St Pius X Unanderra from the commencement of the 2025 school year. I truly appreciate your kind words and good wishes. I look forward to working with the Good Samaritan community for the remainder of 2024.
Last Sunday was World Mission Sunday - our annual opportunity to support the work of Catholic Mission through prayer and financial donations. This year, the focus is on the work of the Church in Mongolia, where harsh conditions compound serious issues already facing people experiencing homelessness, people with disability and victims of domestic abuse. Thank you for supporting this worthwhile cause through our Socktober fundraising last Friday, enabling us to donate $350.
The opening night of the CEDoW Christmas Story Art Exhibition and Competition took place last Wednesday evening at the Wollongong Art Gallery. This competition invited students to engage with Scripture passages related to the Christmas story, encouraging them to connect these messages to their own lives. By exploring the Scriptures from a new perspective, students selected a passage that resonated with them and expressed their interpretations through their artwork.
This year, 163 entries were submitted from 29 primary schools and one K-12 college in our diocese. A panel of judges selected 48 artworks for exhibition, highlighting the dedication and passion of both students and their teachers. Isabelle O, Elizabelle P and Amelie B had their artwork chosen for the competition, with Amelie receiving Highly Commended and Isabelle receiving the Packing Room Prize. A wonderful achievement!
Our teachers are commencing the process of discerning 2025 class placements. Please email the school office if there is a special consideration that requires my attention before 30 October.. Any emails after this date will not be able to be considered.
I ask that considerations do not pertain to individual teachers.
Please understand that class placements are the result of several factors including, but not limited to:
- gender balance
- social/emotional development
- social strengths/challenges
- academic strengths/challenges
- class sizes
- diversity
- equitable classrooms
- combinations of learning styles
Please note that not all considerations will be able to be catered for.

It’s Hats Off to Teachers on Friday 25 October 2025!
On Friday we will be celebrating our wonderful teachers at Good Samaritan and thanking them for all the work they do to educate, inspire and empower learners at our school.
Students can wear a different hat on Friday 25 October to show their appreciation.
Mrs Lisa Tyson
Acting Principal
FROM THE ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL"S DESK:
We’ve had a fantastic start to the term with our Positive Behaviour for Learning (PB4L) focus. Each week, we emphasise a key theme to help our students grow into respectful, responsible, and engaged members of our community. Here's a quick look at the themes we’re covering:
- Week 1: Wearing the correct uniform with pride
We encourage students to take pride in representing our school by wearing their uniforms correctly, fostering a sense of belonging and respect. - Week 2: Respecting adults
Learning to show respect to adults, including teachers, parents, and community members, is a key value. This week, we focus on polite interactions and listening to instructions. - Week 3: Using good manners
Simple acts of kindness and politeness—like saying "please" and "thank you"—go a long way in creating a positive atmosphere. - Week 4: Respecting our school environment
Our students are learning the importance of caring for the school grounds, keeping spaces clean, and treating property with respect. - Week 5: Using play equipment appropriately
We are encouraging students to use the play equipment safely and responsibly, ensuring that everyone can enjoy it.
We appreciate your ongoing support in reinforcing these positive behaviors at home. Together, we can continue to build a strong, respectful, and compassionate school community.
This term, students are earning tokens for consistently demonstrating our school values and following the PB4L rules. Each positive action brings them closer to an exciting reward! At the end of the term, the house with the most tokens will enjoy a special mufti day and a celebration as a well-deserved acknowledgment of their hard work and teamwork.
Encourage your children to keep up their great efforts—we can’t wait to see which house comes out on top!
Feast of All Benedictine Saint’s Mass
Tuesday 12 November is our whole school mass to mark the Feast of All Benedictine Saints. Mass is at 9.30am and all are welcome to join us and celebrate.
Whole School Competition.
Our Good Samaritan Values. A Legacy.
- Community
- Love of Christ and Neighbour
- Hospitality
- Stewardship
Each stage will unpack a parable that aligns with the meaning of the value. The children will then create a visual representation of this value through their understanding of the connection to scripture and our school community. The artwork does not need to connect directly with the parable, but with the message of the parable that is connected to our value.
ES1- Amaroo Stewardship: Creation and Parable of the Mustard Seed
S1- Community: Parable of the Treasure + Parable of the Lost Sheep
S2- Love of Christ and Neighbour Prodigal Son + Washing of Feet
S3- Hospitality The Parable of Sower and Seeds + Wedding Feast of Cana

PARISH HOSPITALITY
On the first Sunday of every month, after the 8:30am Sunday Mass at St John Vianney, the parish puts on Hospitality (Morning Tea), for the parishioners and we would like to extend that invitation to families of the school. It is a beautiful opportunity to gather and catch-up with one another as family groups.

MASS AND PRAYER INTENTIONS
All parishioners and visitors are very welcome to ask one of our priests to offer Mass for them and their loved ones. Intentions can include thanksgiving for a blessing received from God, to help a relative or friend in need, to celebrate an anniversary, to ask God to strengthen and heal the sick, or to pray that someone who has died will rest in God’s peace. If you wish to offer a Mass & Prayer Intention go to our website: lumenchristi.org.au/intentions or fill in a Mass Intention envelope or contact the parish office.
