Dear Parents and Carers,
World Environment Day is held globally on June 5th, 2024. This event is a time to raise awareness about the importance of protecting our planet and taking action to preserve the environment for future generations. Good Samaritan works to promote sustainability and encourages students to be mindful of their impact on the environment. We will acknowledge World Environment Day at our School assembly/Principals Awards this Friday.
Let's come together as a school community to make a positive difference and show our commitment to protecting the world we live in.
The theme for 2024 is #GenerationRestoration
World Environment Day Prayer
God of creation,
who loves all he has made and all that has evolved,
open the eyes of your people,
that your love might be reflected in our care for the planet.
Through Jesus Christ, who walked this earth and calls us by name.
Amen.
Thank you to the many parents who completed the Tell Them From Me survey. We will share information gained from this survey with you over the next few newsletters. We greatly appreciate the 154 responses from parents/carers, and those from our staff and students in providing valuable data for affirmation and improvement.
Do you have any friends or family who are still thinking about enrolling their child in school for 2025? Please ask them to jump on our website or contact our office. We also have fantastic student leaders who would love to lead families on a guided tour of our wonderful school.
Mrs Lisa Tyson
Acting Principal
FROM THE ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL’S DESK:
We are thrilled to introduce a new initiative at our school designed to enhance the wellbeing and social skills of our students: the Wellbeing Wagons. These wagons will be available during recess and lunch breaks, both in the playground and across the road in our designated play area. They are stocked with a variety of engaging activities aimed at encouraging play, conversation, and the development of social skills.
What do I need to know about Semester One reports?
Semester One reports will be made available via compass to parents on Monday 24 June.
Grades are awarded to students following the Common Grade Scale. At the Parent Teacher Interviews in week 9&10, your child’s class teacher will be able to explain how the grade awarded reflects the level of work your child is currently achieving. Interviews will take place during the weekly period of Wednesday 26 June - Wednesday 3 July. Bookings will be made available for interviews in coming weeks. Students are invited to attend these interviews, especially those in Years 3-6.

The Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Friday 7 June
The Feast of The Most Sacred Heart of Jesus is one of the most widely practiced and well-known devotions in the Roman Catholic Church. It takes the physical heart of Jesus as representation of His Divine love for humanity. The Feast of the Sacred Heart has been in the Roman Catholic Liturgical calendar since 1856, and is always celebrated 19 days after Pentecost Sunday and always falls on a Friday. The devotion especially emphasizes the unmitigated love, compassion, and long-suffering of the heart of Christ towards humanity.

AFL Paul Kelly Cup - Gala Day
On 30 May, Year 5 and Year 6 students attended the AFL Gala Day at Thomas Dalton Park.
The girls' and boys' teams demonstrated exceptional teamwork and skill even though it was the first time playing AFL for some of them.
Both teams won the overall pool and played the opposing winning teams, whereby the girls' team secured a victory over St Peter and Paul. The boys' team showed great sportsmanship in light of their defeat from Mt Saint Thomas.
It was a perfect day with lots of smiles and high-fives. Well done Good Sam!!
A shout-out to all of the parents who attended and supported the students, particularly Mr Courtney, who was a great coach and manager on the day.
