Building work continues on our new play space. This outdoor space is going to provide areas for play and outdoor learning. We should expect the space to be completed mid-term ready for students to enjoy when they return to school face-to-face.
Uniform Expectations Upon Term 4 Return to School:
As students begin the staggered return to school in Term 4, parents are not expected to buy new uniforms for such a short period of time. So, students are able to wear either sports or Summer uniforms based on what fits your child and what can be managed throughout the school week. Let’s make the end of the year as seamless and stress free as possible!
We will return to full school uniform expectations at the beginning of the 2022 school year.
If you have any uniform requirements before the return to school, a uniform order form can be completed and filled. Please contact the school office for further information if required.
Remote Learning Supervision Schedule:
All parents who send their children to school are asked to complete the form indicating which days children are planned to attend and for what reason. This schedule will be sent to parents each Friday in readiness for the following week.
Where anomalies exist parents may be contacted to explain their circumstances.
All parents are asked to remember the following:
Parents and carers in these LGAs must keep children – across primary and secondary school – at home unless they need to be at school. Schools (including outside of school hours care) are open for any child that needs it. (taken from Advice for Families)
Onsite Processes & Procedures during Lockdown:
In order to ensure that we are doing all we can to keep students and staff safe whilst on site during lockdown, parents are asked to complete the attendance link that will be sent each Friday. This information is to notify the school of your child’s essential reason to be at school throughout the week. It will allow us to limit the number of staff needed to supervise each day.
Teachers continue to be rostered onsite throughout weeks 1&2 of this term. Due to their face to face supervision responsibilities, teachers will no longer be conducting Zoom sessions whilst rostered onsite. Teachers will be able to respond on Google classroom and SeeSaw however this may not be as immediate as it has previously been.
Teachers will continue to take their Professional Planning Time each Friday afternoon during lockdown in Term 4.
Students stay within their learning cohort during the school day. This includes playtime and learning time. Students will be directed to their play area upon arrival at school. Play times throughout the day have been adjusted slightly to facilitate limited contact.
Recess and Lunch Times will apply which will include 10 minutes eating time & 30 minutes play for each break.
- Recess (10:30am-11:10am): Early Stage One / Stage One / Specialist Setting
- Recess (11:05am-11:45am): Stage 2/3
- Lunch (1:00pm-1:40pm): Kinder / Year 1 / Specialist Setting
- Lunch (1:30 - 2:10): Stage 2/3
Students Arriving Late/Leaving Early:
Any student arriving late to school will be met by a staff member at the McGrath St gate. Similarly, any student leaving the grounds early will be taken to the McGrath St gate. Parents are asked to use the intercom at this gate to communicate with office staff.
We Remember Sister Patricia
The building work construction saw the recovery of a time capsule buried whilst Sister Patricia was principal of St John Vianney Parish Primary School. The time capsule was recovered during the same week of Sister Patricia’s death.
Sister Patricia was the last Good Samaritan sister to have worked at St John Vianney’s. She became Principal of the school in 1985, 36 years ago. It is because of the dedicated work of women and men like Sister Patricia that we are able to experience a Catholic community committed to the learning of children.

The Mission Behaviours help us to recognise the actions of others, and ourselves, when we are together in community. The students are also coming to know these behaviours and what are being taught the actions that can identify the behaviours.
Understanding the Mission Behaviours also provides an opportunity for us to love learning. Our PB4L values are aligned with the Mission Behaviours.
As we head back into remote learning for part of Term 4, set your child up for success when they are having to work online. As parents, the more we know about the vulnerabilities that children face in an online environment and how we can proactively support them the better.
