PRINCIPAL'S DESK:

Dear Parents and Carers,

Our Confirmation Liturgy on Saturday afternoon was a beautiful and reverent occasion. Father Bernard and Bishop Brian were impressed with the thorough preparation of the children and their engagement in the ceremony. Thank you to the many families that gave written and verbal feedback on the event, I have passed your sentiments onto staff. Sincere thanks to Mrs Natalie Shelley, Religious Education Coordinator, the musicians and the Lumen Chrisit Parish Pastoral Council for their support, Also to our wonderful parents and Mrs Jenny Jancetic who made the photos and refreshments in the hall so special. It certainly made me reflect on how lucky I am to lead such a wonderful community.

I look forward to our Athletics Carnival tomorrow and the school is delighted to provide a Sausage Sizzle to warm our students up! Sausage sandwiches and lolly bags (Year Six fundraiser) will also be available for purchase. A big thank you to Mrs Olima, Physical Education teacher extraordinaire for her wonderful organisation. All are most welcome!

This week I had the pleasure of analysing our Tell Them From Me Parent Survey results. Feedback is crucial for the school moving forward and please be assured that as a school, it is important we celebrate success but also think where to next? Here is a summary of the key themes:

Noteworthy

The school is above the Dicoesan mean in our sense of welcome, inclusiveness, safety and behaviour. Our school scores well above in our Catholic Identity and infusion of Values, with over 93% of participants strongly agreeing or agreeing.

Areas for future discussion

Opening discussion on uniforms, in particular boys winter shirt and tie options.

Homework, having more varied options and reviewing the current practices.

Further opportunities for parents to engage and give feeback regarding their child's  learning.

Consideration to the scheduling of events for working parents.

I look forward to opening up a rich discussion via our Parents and Friends forum and also other means, including surveys, feedback opportunities and the creation of consultative committees and Grade Parent contacts in Term Three.

Watch this space!

Have a lovely week,

Sincerely

Pauline Chrostowski - Principal
