PRINCIPAL'S DESK:

Dear Parents and Carers,

Last night it was my privilege to attend the 2025 BlueScope WIN Wollongong Eisteddfod. This Eisteddfod showcases music, vocals and speech. Good Samaritan had two choirs entered into the Primary School age section and I am pleased to share the amazing news that we won 1st and 3rd Prize!!

This is an outstanding achievement and demonstrates the commitment of the boys and girls involved. It  also reflects our choir extraordinaire and music teacher; Mrs Jenny Jancetic who is supported so well by Mrs Mel Martin. We are so fortunate to have such talented staff, so willing to give of their time to support extracurricular activities. Also, a big thank you to the many parents and staff that attended on the night. We will showcase the choir at our next school assembly on Friday 13th June at 2.10p.m. All are welcome!

Today members of our Parent Building Committee, Catholic Education Properties and key staff met to receive an update on our 3.7 million dollar Building Refurbishment of the double story red brick building. This project will commence shortly and I warmly invite you to the Library on Thursday 3rd July at 2.30p.m, just prior to pick up. The purpose of this meeting will be to view the plans. Handouts of the design will be available following the meeting, for those unable to attend. Please be assured that we are committed to giving you regular updates on the project and that during the refurbishment, the Faith, Learning and Well-being outcomes for students and continuity of learning will always be given the highest priority. This will include ample communication of the relocation of Year Five and Six during the building project. We are lucky we have sufficient additional classroom spaces to house students during this time.

Finally, I was delighted to read the “Tell Them From Me” student survey data. Please see below some noteworthy feedback  from our students and statistical data that indicates we are progressing well with the social and emotional outcomes of the students in our care. It is lovely to see that we are above the mean in all areas and we have achieved growth in all domains.

Student Feedback:

Positives

“I love the activities at lunch time, there is so much to do STEM, Lego club, I love how the new principal made crossing the road an option, as I didn't like going.”

“I like how the school has clubs at lunchtime. Like the teachers we have”.

“I like how we have overnight camps!”

I really love kind/compassionate students and teachers at Good Samaritan. I also like the subjects that the school has to offer for me. I think the ideas of school clubs ( chess club, choir, Lego Etc) really makes the

“The new canteen is good”.

Future Considerations

“I would love to see a school musical. I have never been into singing but I like doing it”.

“I don’t  know why the boys have to wear ties or tuck in our shirts”.

“You should add more handball places - lots and lots and lots and lots of them.”

“I like this school because everyone is very kind and caring to me, this school would be better if everyone put their  rubbish in the bin”

“I like this school because it’s  really big and beautiful and the canteen is a nice place to go and draw and stuff is not that expensive.. I think that the school would be nice if you could go and see your friends that are in a different playground so we can say hi to them. I also think that the school would be nice if we could have like a little quiet place that we could go to if we were sad or just wanted to hang out with friends or just ourselves . I think that the school will also be good if we have something like a swing or like a dollhouse we could play with.”

If the canteen was open on Friday.”

I look forward to sharing the parent and staff survey results in the coming weeks. Have a lovely week ahead and please do not hesitate to reach out if you need any support or have any feedback in the areas of Faith, Learning and Well Being.

Have a lovely week,

Sincerely

Pauline Chrostowski - Principal
