FROM THE ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL’S DESK:
This week as a school we celebrated Autism Understanding Day with great enthusiasm and compassion. It was a day dedicated to raising awareness about autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and fostering a deeper understanding of the experiences of individuals on the spectrum.
Students came to school dressed in blue, symbolising solidarity and support for individuals with autism. This small gesture served as a visual reminder of our commitment to inclusion and acceptance.
Throughout the day, our students actively engaged in lessons designed to educate them about autism. They learned about the unique strengths and challenges faced by individuals with ASD, and the importance of empathy and understanding in building a more inclusive community.
One of the highlights of the day was our visit to the Amaroo Autism classes. This provided an invaluable opportunity for our students to interact with peers who are on the autism spectrum, learn from their experiences, and gain a firsthand understanding of their perspectives. These interactions were filled with warmth, curiosity, and mutual respect, reflecting the inclusive spirit of our school.
As a school community, we believe in the power of education and empathy to create a more compassionate world. Autism Understanding Day allowed us to reaffirm our commitment to embracing diversity and celebrating the unique talents and contributions of every individual.
We are grateful to everyone who participated in making Autism Understanding Day a memorable and meaningful experience. Together, we continue to build a community where everyone feels valued, understood, and supported.
