CURRICULUM:
News from Amaroo Gold Classrooms
Amaroo Gold have had a busy and productive start to the year.
In Religion we learnt all about The Good Samaritan story and what our special school emblem means. The heart reminds us that Jesus wants us to love everyone by helping others in need. The cross reminds us of Jesus and his love for each of us. The road reminds us that we are travelling on a journey together learning to be Good Samaritans as Jesus wants us to be.

We have also been learning about the importance of the Prayer Space in our classroom and we created our own prayer spaces with a cloth, candle, the Bible and a cross.
In Maths we have been playing lots of fun Maths games.
Maths games help us learn how to solve problems together, think strategically about what moves to make, practise our quick addition of dice numbers and also that it’s ok to lose.
News from Amaroo Blue Classrooms
Amaroo Blue have settled into the new school year well and have been working hard in Literacy and Mathematics. In English, we have been reading the Australian text Our Island written by the children of Gununa together with Alison Lester and Elizabeth Honey. We have compared Mornington Island and the animals that live there to where we live. We have written our own story called “Our School”.
We can also speed write words and have been having fun with fine motor activities. We have also been refining our skills in addition and subtraction.
