Dear Parents and Carers of Good Samaritan,

I wish to inform you about a serious matter that has been occurring at Good Samaritan. Some students have been using inappropriate language and making racist comments towards their peers at school. This behaviour goes against the values and principles we strive to uphold in our school community. At Good Samaritan, we are committed to fostering an environment of respect, understanding, and compassion for all individuals. Such behaviour is not tolerated and is contrary to the teachings of love, acceptance, and inclusion that are fundamental to our faith. 

All staff at our school explicitly teach, affirm and correct agreed behaviour expectations across school-wide, classroom and non-classroom settings, based on our school rules that underpin who we are and what we do at Good Samaritan. We are dedicated to ensuring that every student feels safe, valued, and respected within our school community. 

I urge you to have a conversation with your child about the importance of treating others with kindness and respect, regardless of their background. Our school emblem, made up of the Cross, the Heart and the Road symbolises these values:

The Cross: Reminds us of the love Jesus has for each of us and our responsibility as children of God’s Kingdom to show that love to others.

The Heart: The Good Samaritan showed his love of neighbour by seeing the need of another and, moved to compassion, proceeded to act to assist the man in need.

The Road: We are journeying together to grow in our relationship with God, with each other and with those in our parish community. We build this relationship through our thoughts, actions and words.
