News from the P&F:
The P&F has been busy thinking about the events that are held for the children and school community throughout the year and how these could be best managed. With over ten events held this year already (and still more to come!), the P&F is pleased with the success of the events even though it may seem a big load.
A revised structure has been proposed that aims to redistribute events throughout the year to school grades for organisation, while still having the P&F in place for oversight and management. For example, Year 6 children and parents assisting with the organisation of the Welcome BBQ for Kindergarten children at the beginning of each year, and Kindergarten children and parents assisting with the Year 6 Farewell at the end of the year.
Other possible allocations of events are outlined in the attached document. The concept we’ve imagined is that each grade across the school supports the P&F with the organisation and management of one or two events each year so that the load is shared more evenly across the school community.
Many parents have understandably expressed reluctance to join the P&F because they do not have time to be allocated a ‘big job’ over a long period of time. This proposal will allow year groups to come together to contribute to the school in short bursts. Special committees, such as the playground committee, will also be convened as required for specific projects that are needed around the school.
The P&F welcomes comments, suggestions, and feedback on this model. This will be an item on the agenda at next week's P&F meeting.
