Learning and Curriculum News

In Year 5 this term, we will be focusing on informative writing. Students will be conducting a research task based on Famous Australian Landmarks answering a variety of questions. They will then create a diorama representation of their Famous Australian Landmarks so, watch this space!
Students in Year 5 have also been focusing on their handwriting. We have been learning about cursive handwriting including joins, tall letters and tails.
News from Year 6
Year 6 have been working with Cameron Brown since the beginning of Term 1. Cameron from EDA Action Squad provides tools so our students can become leaders in our world. Themed opportunities allow the students to develop leadership skills, attitudes and behaviours in the school environment and beyond.
Here is what they have to say:
Edward 6R- It's been great learning about becoming a leader. In our groups we listen to everyone and it is not just about us. It's fun because we play games but we learn from them.
Bailey 6G- We have learned to cooperate with each other, share feelings and ideas.
Noah 6G- I like that we have learned to mix with different people and find things in common with people outside of our friendship group. It's not just about a simple way out but time to think of different ideas and challenge yourself.
River 6G– It helped us to get out of our comfort zone and try new things. It teaches us that it's about trial and error and not having everything always work out the way we want it to.
