News from Year 1:
It’s busy, busy in Year 1! In Religion, we have focused on Advent, the Annunciation, the Visitation and Mary and Joseph’s journey to Bethlehem. Next week we will focus on the birth of Jesus and the Magi. In class, the children are enjoying opening the Advent calendar and creating the nativity scene on the storyboard. In Mathematics we have learnt about 3 dimensional objects, 2 dimensional shapes and money. We are making some very special Christmas crafts linked to our Religion unit eg: Advent wreaths, stars of Bethlehem etc.
Year 1 have greatly enjoyed working and singing with Andrew Chin. They also enjoyed the Good Sam Factor immensely and we had some fantastic performers from both classes. Year 1 are now preparing for our Christman concert scheduled for Friday evening. We look forward to seeing you all there..
It has been a great year working with your children and seeing them blossom in so many ways. We wish you all a very happy and holy Christmas, and a safe and fun-filled holiday!
In Religious Education, Year 2 has been learning about Advent, a time of waiting and hoping. The students have been learning about the Jesse Tree and recalling some Old Testament people who waited in joyful expectation for the coming of Jesus. The students were introduced to stories of the New Testament who waited for Jesus, the promised light and saviour who would lead people out of darkness and into freedom. The students wrote recounts of the Old and New Testament stories and completed artworks to accompany them.
