From the Principal's Desk

Dear Parents and Carers of Good Samaritan,
With the busyness of school life continuing this term it is hard to believe that this time last year we were well into a COVID-19 lockdown and remote learning. How quickly we get back into the swing of things in a school!
Week 10 of this term will, unfortunately, see Good Samaritan students and our friends at St Brigid’s Gwynneville, return to remote learning due to the UCI Bike Race and the many road closures around the school affecting access. Please be reminded that no one will be on the school site during this time. Our school staff are currently planning for learning in week 10. Whilst remote learning may seem ‘easy enough’ to switch to in the minds of some, it actually takes a lot of planning and time to change the platform of learning within a school.
For those students and families who have previously experienced remote learning at Good Samaritan the structure will be very similar. More information will be forthcoming which will explain how students will access learning during this time.
This week is Screen Aware Week. It’s that opportunity for us to revise our expectations for the use of devices in classrooms and at school. It is also an opportunity for students to be aware of how much time they are spending on screens. This short eSafety video for parents outlines some easy things that you can do to help your child stay safe online. The eSafety commissioner has a huge range of resources available for parents and families to access. I would definitely recommend visiting this site to remain informed.
As we journey together, with Jesus, this week,
Toni Sillis
