Focus on Teacher Wellbeing:
As you would understand, the work of teachers has changed dramatically to accommodate lock down remote learning. Our teachers are doing a terrific job in maintaining continuity of learning and this can begin to place a physical, mental and emotional load on our teachers.
Teachers know that their work is highly relational and this can create situations where they are managing multiple requests or expectations from many different people. As a school, we know that teacher wellbeing is of high priority.
Our teaching staff is enormously appreciative of the support that parents have given. The small comments and emails from parents have really supported the wellbeing of our teachers. Teachers are adjusting to this new way of working and are beginning to recognise the different work boundaries that need to be put into place. Some of these include:
- Responding to emails/SeeSaw/Google classroom messages only within the regular school day eg: 8:30am-4:30pm
- Providing feedback on one to two pieces of work that are identified to students within the Learning Plans
- Being offline over the weekend
- Supporting learning with focused & organised Zoom4Learning sessions over the week
- Having the weekend as a weekend
Please remember that the school site is operating with minimal staff. The health of our students and staff is just so important. Only students who must attend school, as there is no other alternative, are to attend.
Remote learning is difficult for everyone and we cannot adjust the restrictions and risk the health and safety of others.
