Reading:

• Listen to your child read/discuss what they are reading.
• Ask them to describe the characters.
• Discuss the problems and solutions in the story.
• Ask questions about the story.
• Ask questions like what is the point of view of the character? What is the  character's agenda? 

Writing:

When I write I need to- 

• Think about the sentences I am going to write.
• I segment/listen to the sounds I hear and write them. 
• I reread my sentences to check that they make sense. 
• I edit my work and check for mistakes such as no capital letter at the start of a sentence or for a pronoun. Have I used the correct punctuation at the end of the sentence? 

• This term we will be spending time practicing typing on a keyboard or online keyboard in preparation for NAPLAN. If your child is using an online keyboard they can practice on typingclub.com if they are using an attached keyboard they can use kidstype.com
