ASH WEDNESDAY 17th February 2021

Ash Wednesday is celebrated today. It marks the beginning of the season of Lent. During Lent we prepare by prayer, fasting and almsgiving for the joys of Easter. On Ash Wednesday this year the ashes blessed by prayer and holy water were sprinkled over the children's heads as a sign of our repentance. The ashes come from the palms blessed for the previous year's Palm Sunday Mass.
